Press Release: ICR Launches Biodiversity Program and Starts a Public Consultation
Advancing Biodiversity Conservation and Restoration Into the Global Sustainability Efforts
The International Carbon Registry (ICR) is proud to announce the official launch of its Biodiversity Program, now entering a pilot phase for the first two years. This innovative program provides a comprehensive framework for biodiversity conservation and restoration projects, allowing for the registration and issuance of Biodiversity Net Gain Credits (BiNGCs).
As part of the program, ICR is actively inviting organizations and individuals to submit project proposals for biodiversity-focused initiatives. These projects will contribute to global efforts aimed at protecting ecosystems, restoring habitats, and ensuring long-term biodiversity gains
Interested parties can access the program documentation and submit proposals: ICR Biodiversity Program Documentation.
In addition to the program launch, ICR has opened a public consultation to ensure the continuous refinement of the program. The consultation period runs from October 23, 2024, until December 31, 2024, and stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback on key elements of the program.
We are proud to launch this pioneering program during COP16 in Cali, Colombia and we invite everyone to participate. The biodiversity program is designed to create measurable, high-impact outcomes for biodiversity conservation and restoration on a global scale, with transparency and integrity at its core, said Gudmundur Sigbergsson, CEO of ICR.
