M-ICR005 webinar

As part of the renewed public consultation for the proposed ICR methodology M-ICR005 – Reduction of GHG emissions by diverting unsold goods and organic waste from disposal, ICR will host a webinar to present the methodology and provide an opportunity for stakeholder engagement. M-ICR005 was previously made available for public consultation in 2023 under an earlier version of the ICR Methodology Approval Process. Since then, the methodology has undergone material updates following ICR review, methodology revisions, validation and further technical review by the VVB. ICR is therefore conducting a renewed consultation to allow stakeholders to review and comment on the updated methodology under the current methodology approval process. The webinar will introduce the methodology, explain its scope and key methodological approach, and provide an opportunity for stakeholders to ask questions and provide feedback as part of the public consultation process. About the methodology M-ICR005 provides criteria and procedures for quantifying GHG emission reductions from diverting eligible unsold goods and organic waste from final disposal. Eligible project activities include the diversion of unsold usable goods to commercialization or donation, and the diversion of eligible organic waste to animal feeding, with or without prior processing. The baseline scenario is final disposal of the eligible materials in a solid waste disposal site or through incineration. The project scenario avoids or reduces emissions by redirecting the materials to productive use, subject to eligibility, evidence, monitoring and end-use requirements. The updated methodology includes revised provisions for baseline determination, additionality, project boundary, affected SSRs, baseline and project emissions, leakage, monitoring, parameter classification, end-use evidence and controls to avoid double claiming. It also incorporates applicable Article 6.4 methodological tools, including A6.4-AMT-003 for emissions from solid waste disposal sites and A6.4-AMT-007 for emissions from electricity generation and consumption.
